Browns agree to 1-year deal with DT Taven Bryan

CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The Browns agreed to a one-year deal worth a reported $5 million with defensive tackle Taven Bryan Monday.

Bryan becomes the first free agent added this offseason by Browns EVP/GM Andrew Berry.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo first reported the agreement.

Bryan was selected 29th overall by the Jaguars in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Florida.

Last season Bryan played in 15 games and had two sacks, eight quarterback hits, 15 tackles – four for loss as a reserve.

He started 17 of 63 games for the Jaguars where he totaled 5 ½ sacks, 25 QB hits, 86 tackles – 15 for loss, a pass breakup and forced fumble.

Bryan could get an opportunity to start for the Browns full time with defensive tackle Malik McDowell not expected to return following an arrest in January in Florida.

The NFL’s “legal tampering” period began Monday at noon allowing teams to negotiate with free agents, however, contracts may not be executed until the new league year begins Wednesday at 4 p.m. eastern.
