BEREA, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – It appears the Browns dodged a bullet.
Receiver Anthony Schwartz did not suffer any serious damage to his knee after going down midway through Thursday’s practice during a non-contact drill.
Schwartz is “day-to-day” according to head coach Kevin Stefanski after walking into the field house Thursday under his own power alongside a trainer.
“We’ll see how that goes over the next couple of days,” Stefanski said. “I think we’ll be ok, certainly long term.”
Schwartz, who underwent further examination following Thursday’s practice, appeared to avoid what could’ve been a serious injury.
“It happened right in front of me so you’re always nervous when it’s no contact,” Stefanski said.
While Stefanski did not provide a specific timetable for return, the regular season isn’t in doubt.
“He’ll be ready for the season,” Stefanski said.
With Schwartz joining rookie David Bell, who started camp on active/PUP due to a foot injury suffered during minicamp in June, as being unable to practice, Stefanski indicated the team is unlikely to add anyone at the position in the meantime.
“I would say it is too early for that,” Stefanski said.
