Browns LB Anthony Walker avoids surgery, to miss “a week plus” with right knee injury

BEREA, (92.3 The Fan) – Cleveland Browns linebacker Anthony Walker will not require surgery after suffering an injury to his right knee during Monday's practice.

That’s the good news.

The not so good news is that Walker will miss time. How much is to be determined.

“We'll see,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said. “I mean, it's a week-plus. But we'll see. I can't put an exact timeframe on it.”

Walker was dressed but watched the team's walkthrough on the sideline Tuesday morning while wearing a wrap on his right knee.

Walker suffered the non-contact injury late in Monday’s practice.

He came to the sideline and attempted to stretch out what was bothering him before a trainer eventually examined him on the field before walking with him into the facility.

Jacob Phillips filled in for Walker with the first team defense Tuesday but he might not Wednesday, by design.

“We are going to work a bunch of guys in,” Stefanski said. “I think that is what Joe [Woods] and the defensive staff have talked through. Really working a lot of guys into a bunch of different positions. Where you may see someone playing at say the MIKE today, he will play the WILL tomorrow. That is the same with safeties and corners. Moving the guys around, it is all part of the natural progression as you get started in camp.”
