CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Browns cornerback Kevin Johnson is on the mend following a serious injury earlier this week.

Johnson was released from University Hospitals on Friday the team said Saturday after he suffered a lacerated liver during Wednesday’s practice.

“It is really good news that he is out of the hospital,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said Saturday. “I spoke to him yesterday. He is doing really well. We are going to take a week to week. I am going to listen to the doctors and the trainers on this one.”

Johnson will be able to return to the facility in a few days once he goes through the COVID-19 testing protocols.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said Johnson suffered the injury during a red zone drill when tight end Harrison Bryant landed on him.

The Browns signed Johnson, drafted by the Texans 16th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft, to a one-year, $3.5 million contract this offseason.
