Nick Chubb practices after being designated to return from IR Monday

Wyatt Teller also returns as Browns get healthier after bye week

CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – After nearly a month away, Nick Chubb was back on the field Monday and the Browns have their fingers crossed come Sunday he'll be ready to go.

Chubb was designated to return from injured reserve earlier in the day, clearing him to practice.

“I was joking, he was fresh legs out there. He looked like Nick looks,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said after practice. “He was ready to roll out there at practice. Obviously, he is chomping at the bit. He has done everything in this rehab that has been asked of him. As you can imagine, he has attacked it. We will see how the week unfolds here.”

Should Chubb not suffer any setbacks during the week, he could play against the Houston Texans.

Right guard Wyatt Teller, who missed three gamnes with a calf strain, also returned.

“We will see how this unfolds this week, but you are talking about two good football players,” Stefanski said. “If we are able to get them back, I think that will give a boost to our team.”

Teller has been credited for the Browns' success running the ball earlier this season.

“It is awesome having Wyatt Teller back and just the juice he brings and the physicality and the nastiness,” tight end Austin Hooper, who underwent an appendectomy last month that caused him to miss two games, said. “Definitely a guy that is a lot of fun to play with on gameday when he is burying people. Nick obviously is one of the premier backs in this league so it is definitely awesome having those guys back.”

Chubb suffered a sprained MCL Oct. 4 in a 49-38 victory over the Cowboys in Arlington that saw him rush six times for 43 yards prior to going down.

Chubb, who is averaging 5.9 yards per carry this season, has rushed for four touchdowns and 335 yards in just four games to date.

Despite missing the past four games, Chubb still leads the NFL with six rushes of 20-plus yards this season.

Defensive end Myles Garrett and receiver Jarvis Landry also practiced Monday.

Garrett is dealing with knee, ankle and hand injuries while Landry continues to play through a broken rib.

“I think that the NFL season is a slog. Every game comes at you and every team deals with injuries,” Stefanski said. “We are no different. To get this bye right in the middle and to be able to have guys that are coming back potentially off of this, I think, can be a big boost to our guys. Like we have mentioned before, nobody feels 100 percent. That is just how it goes. They are all battling through different things, but it is nice to have those guys back out there.”
