CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The New York Jets went 1-2 in their attempts to pry a Browns assistant coach away from Cleveland for an interview for their offensive coordinator job.
Wide receivers coach/pass game coordinator Chad O’Shea interviewed with the Jets on Friday while offensive line coach Bill Callahan declined after signing a contract extension with the team.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero first reported the news.
Both O’Shea and Callahan came to Cleveland in 2020 to work for head coach Kevin Stefanski.
Under Callahan, the Browns offensive line has been one of the best in the NFL led by five-time Pro Bowl left guard Joel Bitonio. Right guard Wyatt Teller has developed into one of the best pull guards in the league under Callahan and his wide-zone blocking scheme.
Despite a season-ending injury to center Nick Harris in training camp, the line didn’t skip a beat as they helped running back Nick Chubb run for a career-high 1,525 yards and 12 touchdowns.
O’Shea has helped to develop Donovan Peoples-Jones, a 2020 sixth-round pick, into a reliable receiver behind four-time Pro Bowler Amari Cooper.
