Woods was selected in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He appeared in 10 games as a rookie where he caught five passes for 45 yards in limited action.
Woods was likely going to enter training camp as the sixth or seventh receiver on the depth chart behind Amari Cooper, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Elijah Moore, David Bell, Jakeem Grant and Anthony Schwartz.
The Browns bolstered the receiving corps by acquiring Moore from the New York Jets along with a third-round pick for their second-round selection – No. 42 overall – last month.
Grant is expected to return from a torn Achilles suffered during training camp last year and Bell, a third round pick a year ago should see more opportunities in 2023.
With Woods likely lost for the season, competition for the sixth receiver roster spot includes Anthony Schwartz, Demetric Felton, who doubles at running back, Daylen Baldwin as well as any draft selection later this month or undrafted free agents added after the draft.
