CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Andrew Berry swapped quarterbacks with his good friend Howie Roseman Monday.

The Browns agreed to acquire Kenny Pickett from the Eagles for Dorian Thompson-Robinson and the 2025 fifth-round pick they received from Detroit for defensive end Za’Darius Smith last fall.

NFL Network first reported the trade.

Trades cannot be completed until the new league year begins Wednesday at 4 p.m. eastern.

Pickett is in the final year of his four-year rookie contract, which does have an option for 2026 on it, and is scheduled to make over $2.6 million this year while Thompson-Robinson had two years remaining on his contract worth around a combined $2.1 million.

Originally drafted by the Steelers 20th overall in 2020, Pickett started one game last season for Philadelphia and has 25 starts over three seasons under his belt.

In 30 games, Pickett has a 62.4 completion percentage while throwing for 4,765 yards with 15 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He’s also been sacked 54 times.

Thompson-Robinson, a 2023 fifth round pick, started six of the 15 games he appeared in where he completed 52.6% of his passes for 880 yards with one touchdown and 10 interceptions.

The addition of Pickett should not slow the Browns pursuit of a veteran bridge quarterback or their desire to add quarterbacks through this year’s draft.

Cleveland also plans to release defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson and designate him the team’s second post-June 1 cut to save $6.4 million in cap space this year. Safety Juan Thornhill was told he would be released February 25.

Both players were supposed to be impact free agent signings during the 2023 offseason by Berry but that never materialized.

That new found cap space won’t available to the Browns until June 2.
