Browns interview Sean Desai for defensive coordinator job

CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The Cleveland Browns search for a new defensive coordinator entered its second week Monday with Seattle’s Sean Desai interviewing for the job.

Desai joined the Seahawks this past season as their associate head coach and defensive assistant under head coach Pete Carroll after serving as the Chicago Bears defensive coordinator for one season in 2021.

Chicago finished sixth in the NFL in total defense (316.7 yards per game) and third against the pass (191.6) under Desai, who was promoted to the post after serving as the team’s safeties coach as well as defensive quality control coach over the previous eight years.

Seattle was eliminated from the playoffs Saturday by the 49ers, 41-23.

Eagles defensive pass game coordinator Dennard Wilson interviewed on Saturday.

Former Lions head coach and Tennessee Titans senior defensive assistant Jim Schwartz interviewed for the job last Wednesday and Steelers senior defensive assistant and linebackers coach Brian Flores Thursday.

Flores is also a candidate for the Falcons defensive coordinator job as well as for the Arizona Cardinals head coaching vacancy.

Patriots linebackers coach Jerod Mayo withdrew from consideration and declined to interview after New England began the process of reworking his contract and role with the team.
