CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Browns left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. seems to have avoided serious injury.
Wills is “day-to-day” according to head coach Kevin Stefanski and might be available for Sunday's home opener against the Houston Texans.
“We'll see how he progresses throughout the week,” Stefanski said.
Wills was carted to the locker room after suffering the injury to his left ankle while helping to clear the way for Jarvis Landry, who scored a 5-yard touchdown on an end around with 13:28 remaining in the second quarter of Sunday's 33-29 loss to the Chiefs.
Wills, who suffered a high ankle sprain on the first offensive snap of their playoff loss in January at Kansas City, appeared to have gotten rolled up on on the play.
Chris Hubbard, who replaced Wills, will continue to fill in if needed according to Stefanski.
“I thought he Hub some good moments,” Stefanski said. “As you guys know, we have called on him in the past to play right tackle and in this case left tackle. He has played inside for us. That is the nature of being that sixth man. He performed admirably. If Jed were not to be able to go, he would be the guy who would be in there.”
