CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The Browns placed rookie linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah on the reserve/COVID-19 list Sunday, a day after rookies reported for training camp.
Players who test positive or are deemed a close contact of someone who did test positive and are symptomatic are required quarantine and spend 10 days on the list.
Teams are not permitted to disclose player COVID test results or vaccination status.
The Browns selected Owusu-Koramoah in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, No. 52 overall.
Viewed as a first-round pick by the Browns, the linebacker from Notre Dame is expected to compete for a starting job during training camp and the preseason.
COVID-19 and the associated protocols hit the Browns hard last season.
Defensive end Myles Garrett contracted the virus and it kept him out two game but he was unable to return to his dominant self upon returning. The receiving corps was wiped out for a game against the Jets due to protocols and head coach Kevin Stefanski missed their playoff victory over the Steelers after testing positive.
Veterans report for camp Tuesday and their first practice is Wednesday. The first session open to the public is Friday afternoon.
