Browns fans new favorite backup quarterback will probably miss their Monday night matchup with the Steelers as Nick Mullens landed on the COVID/Reserved list Wednesday for Cleveland.
Mullens started 2 weeks ago in their 16-14 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders as the 4th year pro went 20-30 for 147 yards and a touchdown to Harrison Bryant at First Energy Stadium on Monday, December 20th.
The Browns also continue to have concerns at kicker as they signed former Washington Football Teamer Chris Blewitt to the practice squad. Starting kicker Chase McLaughlin remains on the COVID list and was in a tailspin, missing 6 of his last 11 kicks. Chris Naggar kicked for the Browns against Green Bay and went 1/2 on extra points and connecting on a 37 yard field goal.
Blewitt was originally signed by Chicago as an undrafted free agent out of University of Pittsburgh in 2019 but made his NFL debut this season and appeared in two games with Washington. He converted 2 of 5 field goal attempts with a long of 52 and made both PATs. He also spent time on the Football Team's practice squad this season. A native of Fairfax County, Va., Blewitt will wear No. 12.
