CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Kevin Stefanski’s offensive coordinator search ended where it began.

Tight ends coach/passing game specialist Tommy Reese is being promoted a league source confirmed to 92.3 The Fan.

Tom Pelissero first reported Cleveland’s decision.

Rees replaces Ken Dorsey, who was fired after one season following a disastrous 3-14 campaign that saw the Browns offense rank near the bottom in multiple meaningful metrics.

Rees, who was a Browns ball boy back when he was 14 and his dad, Bill, was the team’s director of player personnel, is just 32 years old but is thought of highly within NFL circles as a head coach in waiting.

New Patriots head coach and former browns consultant Mike Vrabel expressed interest in hiring Rees to join him in New England. Reese was also a candidate for the North Carolina head coaching job before the school hired Bill Belichick.

Rees joined the Browns last year after spending a year in as Alabama’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Rees was previously Notre Dame’s quarterbacks coach from 2017-2019 and then offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2020-2022.

Stefanski also interviewed Dolphins quarterbacks coach Darrell Bevell, Seahawks quarterbacks coach Charles London, Falcons tight ends coach Kevin Koger, and Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak for the job.

The hire of Rees likely paves the way for Stefanski to take back play calling duties after ceding those to Dorsey midway through last season and restore his offensive system.
