CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Browns running back Nick Chubb and offensive tackle Jack Conklin are on their way back from season ending knee injuries but neither player is ready to practice yet.

Chubb and Conklin are among five players that will start training camp on PUP – Active/Physically Unable to Perform – the team announced Wednesday.

Chubb underwent two surgeries – the first repaired his medial capsule, meniscus, and medial collateral ligament and the second his anterior cruciate ligament – following the injury suffered in Week two at Pittsburgh.

Conklin had surgery to repair a torn ACL and MCL suffered in the season opener against Cincinnati.

Joining Chubb and Conklin on PUP are safety D’Anthony Bell (shin), defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson (knee) and offensive tackle Jedrick Wills (knee).

Cornerback Greg Newsome II and running back Nyheim Hines (knee) were placed on the Active/Non-Football Injury list.

Chubb and the rest of the players placed on PUP and NFI remain on the active roster and can begin practicing once they pass a physical.

Should any player remain on PUP following roster cut down to 53 on August 27, they would have to miss the first four weeks of the regular season.

We’re now off to West Virginia.

The Browns will host the first of seven practices at the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs Thursday afternoon.
