CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The Browns will host the Arizona Cardinals this fall as the NFL officially added a 17th game to the regular season schedule.
Owners approved the measure Tuesday.
“This is a monumental moment in NFL history,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said. “The CBA with the players and the recently completed media agreements provide the foundation for us to enhance the quality of the NFL experience for our fans. And one of the benefits of each team playing 17 regular-season games is the ability for us to continue to grow our game around the world.”
This year the AFC will host the 17th game and each team will play an opponent that finished in the same place in 2020 from a division of their opposing conference.
Every team will host 10 home games – either nine regular-season games and one preseason game or eight regular-season games and two preseason games.
The 17th game will see the AFC North face the corresponding 2020 finisher from the NFC West this year, meaning the Browns will face the Cardinals.
Baker Mayfield and the Browns lost to the Cardinals in Arizona 38-24 in Week 15 of the 2019 season.
The North was already scheduled to face the AFC West and NFC North divisions plus corresponding finisher in the AFC East and AFC South in addition to their home and away divisional games.
2021 Browns opponents:
Home: Ravens, Bengals, Steelers, Cardinals, Bears, Broncos, Lions, Texans and Raiders
Away: Baltimore, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, Kansas City, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota and New England.
The complete 2021 NFL schedule is expected to be released in May.
