CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Cody Parkey will get a chance to keep kicking for the Browns in 2021 as the team re-signed him and completed contracts with four others on Friday.
Parkey's deal is for one-year according to NFL Network.
The Browns also announced the re-signings of receiver/returner JoJo Natson, linebacker Elijah Lee and Rashard Higgins as well as the signing of offensive tackle Greg Senat.
Parkey was 5-5 from 20-29, 4-6 from 30-39, 10-11 from 40-49 and 43/47 on PATs during the 2020 regular season for the Browns. He did not attempt a kick from 50-plus.
Parkey, who took over the job in Week 2 last year, did not miss a kick in the playoffs making all eight PATs and three field goals.
Higgins, who enters his sixth season with Cleveland, is now the third-longest tenured Brown behind left guard Joel Bitonio and long snapper Charley Hughlett.
Natson is expected to assume primary return duties, a job he won out of training camp last year before suffering a torn ACL in Week 3 that ended his season. He has a 7.7 yards per punt return average and 20.9 yards per kickoff return average for his career.
Lee was claimed off waivers midway through the 2020 season from Detroit . He appeared in eight games and recorded six tackles on special teams. From 2018-19, the former seventh-round pick started six games for the 49ers.
Senat, selected in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft by Baltimore, spent the first four weeks on the Browns practice squad before Dallas signed him to their active roster. He appeared in 10 games for the Cowboys, mostly on special teams.
