BEREA, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The Cleveland Browns will spend a significant portion of this summer’s training camp on the road.
Once the team reports for camp, head coach Kevin Stefanski is taking his team to The Greenbrier resort in White Sulpher Springs, West Virginia where they will hold eight practices, likely between July 22-30.
The sessions will be closed to the public.
With the extra week of camp this year due to the Browns playing in the Hall of Fame Game, Stefanski wants to take the opportunity to bring his team together with minimal distractions following two disappointing seasons that saw them finish 8-9 and 7-10 after being expected to make the playoffs.
Prior to the Hall of Fame Game in Canton on August 3 against the Jets, the team will return to Berea where they will begin to host approximately eight open practices for fans, which has been tradition since the 1990's.
Training camp plans won't be finalized until the preseason schedule is completed, which should be in the next few weeks.
Former left tackle and 10-time Pro Bowler Joe Thomas will become the 18th Cleveland Brown to be inducted into the Hall of Fame on August 5.
The Browns are also scheduled to travel to Philadelphia for their third preseason game and a hold pair of joint practices preceding it. Last year the Eagles came to Cleveland.
The New Orleans Saints and Houston Texans have held practices at The Greenbrier, which has also hosted a PGA event.
