CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The Browns quarterback room makeover is nearly complete.
Shortly after announcing their trade for Deshaun Watson, the Browns also made official their trade with Buffalo to send backup quarterback Case Keenum to Buffalo for a 2022 seventh-round pick.
Cleveland is expected to sign veteran Jacoby Brissett, who was with the Dolphins last season, to back Watson up.
Keenum was signed by the Browns in 2020 as an unrestricted free agent and was entering the final year of a three-year contract that is to pay him $6.1 million this season.
Keenum appeared in seven games, starting two and winning both of them last season, where he completed 47 of 72 passes for 462 yards and three touchdowns.
Cleveland is in the process of finding a trade partner for Baker Mayfield.
Mayfield wrote a thank you to Cleveland following the team’s meeting with Watson last Tuesday in Houston and requested a trade on Thursday.
A day later, Watson reversed course and agreed to waive his no-trade clause for Cleveland and a new five-year, $230 million, fully guaranteed contract with the Browns.
