CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Browns receiver Davion Davis has been suspended for the first two games of the 2021 season without pay the NFL announced Tuesday.
The discipline comes as the result of an October 2019 DWI arrest while Davis was with the Minnesota Vikings for violating the league’s policies on substances of abuse.
He later pleaded guilty to careless driving.
Davis, signed by the Browns on July 31, was a longshot to make the team to begin with. He caught a 27-yard touchdown in the preseason victory at Jacksonville.
He will be placed on the reserve/suspended by the commissioner list once the initial 53-man roster is turned into the league next Tuesday at 4 p.m. eastern.
Davis is eligible to participate for the remainder of the preseason, including the preseason finale Sunday night at Atlanta. He can return to the Browns, should they chose to keep him on the active roster, on September 20.
