David Njoku still a Brown, $6 million salary guaranteed with start of new league year

CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The new league year for the NFL arrived at 4 p.m. Wednesday, and with it, good news for Browns tight end David Njoku.

His fifth-year option, worth $6.013 million and exercised last May, became fully guaranteed.

There was some question as to if the Browns would move on from the tight end selected 29th overall in 2017 after he requested a trade last summer before withdrawing the request weeks later.

Last season, Njoku was primarily the third tight end behind Austin Hooper and Harrison Bryant. He caught 19 of 29 targets for 213 yards and two touchdowns.

In four seasons with the Browns Njoku has totaled 112 receptions for 1,279 yards and 11 touchdowns.
