CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The Browns will be without starting defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi and cornerback Greedy Williams Sunday afternoon against the Colts.
Safety Karl Joseph, listed as questionable after suffering a hamstring injury during practice Thursday, will be a game time decision.
“We just have to use the next 50 hours or so to see how he responds and take it from there,” Stefanski said. “I do not know exactly how it happened but some of these muscle injuries that is just what happens.”
Ogunjobi suffered an abdominal injury in the second half against the Cowboys and did not practice this week.
Rookie Jordan Elliott is expected to start in place of Ogunjobi.
“We are counting on him,” Stefanski said of the third-round pick from Missouri. “He is pretty responsible. He follows through on study, and he makes sure he is in the right spot and right place. We just need him to go out there, and then whatever is asked of him, he has to do his job.
“Everything we have thrown at him, he has been ready to roll. For a young player, I think he is ascending.”
Ronnie Harrison, acquired from Jacksonville during training camp, will start for Joseph if he can't play against the Colts.
“He is ready,” Stefanski said. “He has been here now over a month. He studies hard. He is ready if called upon.”
Williams, who has now missed the first five games of the season, remains out since suffering a shoulder injury on Aug. 24 and it didn’t sound promising that Williams will be back soon.
“We're hopeful we'll have some good news here in the next couple weeks,” Stefanski said.
Fuller house – The Browns will have 12,000 fans at Sunday’s game, doubling the 6,000 that attended each of the first two games.
“I hope they sound like 120,000,” Stefanski said. “Wear your mask, though.”
The State of Ohio and city of Cleveland approved their request for an increase in capacity at FirstEnergy Stadium on Monday as long as additional concourses and seating sections are opened to accommodate the additional fans and existing protocols remain in place.
Key Colts down – The Colts will be without two key starters, and arguably two of their best players, Sunday.
Left tackle Anthony Castanzo and Pro Bowl linebacker Darius Leonard were ruled out for the game Friday.
Castanzo is sidelined with a rib injury and Leonard a groin.
Cracking down – NFL Senior vice president of officiating Perry Fewell sent a memo to teams Friday informing them that any individual who approaches an official without a face covering is subject to a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, as well as possible fines, suspensions and forfeiture of draft picks according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
