Eastlake, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Jarvis Landry is ready to play ball.

The Cleveland Browns Pro Bowl receiver will host the inaugural Jarvis Landry Celebrity Softball Game at Classic Park in Eastlake on June 15 at 5 p.m.

Landry plans to assemble a cast of stars including teammates, players from around the NFL as well as other national celebrities for the game.

“It's entertainers, everybody, maybe anybody you can think of,” Landry said Thursday.

The first two participants for the game, besides Landry, were also announced Thursday – teammates Myles Garrett and David Njoku. Other participants will be announced in the coming weeks leading up to the game.

“It's not just going to be Browns [players],” Landry said. “Obviously we’ve got a few Browns, but it’s not going to be just Browns or Cleveland sports.”

Landry, who playfully declined to say if quarterback Baker Mayfield or fellow receiver Odell Beckham Jr. would be participating, is no stranger to the diamond.

“I played all the way up through high school, so it’ll be the first time with a bat in my hand for the first time in a long time,” Landry said.

The game is just one of several charity events Landry is involved with since coming to Cleveland last year and he'll be busy this summer.

Landry hosted a youth football camp last year and will do so once again this year at Shaker Heights High School June 14-15 as well as the Jarvis Landry Sports Challenge Friday July 19 from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. at James F Rhodes Field in Cleveland benefitting the Northern Ohio Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

“I think it's part of the reason why I'm here, and when I say here, not exactly Cleveland but just in the position and the platform that I have to be able to inspire kids, to be able to do football camps, to be able to be in the community, to be able to partner with these guys and put something together for the community, for a charity, for bigger things than myself,” Landry said. “I think for me, I personally believe that's what God put me here to do, be an influence, be an inspiration to other people and help.”

Proceeds from the event will benefit Lake Heath Foundation, a nonprofit fundraising arm of the Lake Health system, as well as Landry’s CF foundation that he started in memory of his high school sweetheart who passed away at the age of 24 because of Cystic Fibrosis.

“Lake Health is really excited and proud to be part of the Jarvis Landry event,” Mark Flash, executive director of the Lake Health Foundation, said. “He really cares about the community.”

To celebrate the announcement Landry threw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Captains hosting the Bowling Green Hotrods.

Declining the chance to take a few warmup tosses, Landry walked to the mound and fired a strike right down the middle.

Tickets for the game, which will also feature a hone run derby at 4 p.m., can be purchased at the Classic Park box office or JarvisLandrySoftball.com.
