Josh Dobbs signs 1-year deal with Browns to be Deshaun Watson’s backup quarterback

CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Josh Dobbs is back with the Cleveland Browns.

Dobbs agreed to a one-year contract to return to Cleveland Monday night and signed his contract Thursday afternoon.

The plan is for Dobbs to serve as Deshaun Watson’s backup.

Dobbs served as Jacoby Brissett’s backup for the first 11 games of the 2022 season before being released and then signing with the Tennessee Titans where he started his first two games.

In those two starts, Dobbs completed 40-of-68 passes for 411 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also ran eight times for 44 yards.

Since 2018, Dobbs has appeared in eight NFL games – six of those with the Steelers – where he has completed 50-of-85 passes for 556 yards with the two scores and two picks.
