CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Browns vice president of football operations Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is a finalist for the Vikings vacant general manager’s job according to multiple reports.
Adofo-Mensah is scheduled to interview for a second time next week. He has also interviewed for the Chicago Bears GM opening.
Adofo-Mensah joined the Browns in 2020 after being hired away from San Francisco by executive vice president of football operations and general manager Andrew Berry.
Berry leans heavily on Adofo-Mensah and collaborates with him on roster and strategic football decisions.
“We are thrilled when we have people from our organization who have the chance to interview for one of these opportunities,” Berry said on January 11, two days after the Browns ended their 2021 season 8-9.
Adofo-Mensah, who also helps Berry oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the team, began his career working in the 49ers football research and development department. He rose quickly through the organization serving as manager for five years prior to being named the director of the department.
In 2019, the 49ers landed the top seed in the NFC and won the conference championship before falling to Baltimore in Super Bowl XLVII.
During his tenure with the 49ers, Adofo-Mensah led the team’s efforts to develop and implement advanced quantitative methods for game strategy and personnel evaluation.
Before joining the 49ers in 2013, Adofo-Mensah was an associate portfolio manager at Taylor Woods Capital and vice president/executive director at Credit Suisse as a commodities trader. A graduate of Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in economics, he earned a master’s degree in economics from Stanford University.
