BEREA, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Tuesday was a good day on the injury front for the Browns.
Linebacker Mack Wilson, who underwent an MRI Sunday on his shoulder and was listed by head coach Kevin Stefanski before practice as “day-to-day,” was on the field with his helmet and participating in individual drills.
Wilson was held out of the limited team 11-on-11 work Tuesday, but his presence was certainly a welcome sigh of relief.
“I think we dodged anything long term,” Stefanski said before practice.
Safeties Grant Delpit and Ronnie Harrison Jr. as well as receiver Anthony Schwartz all returned to practice Tuesday.
The three were sidelined with hamstring injuries.
“With everybody, we are just trying to make sure we are smart,” Stefanski said. “As you know, the guys that maybe are not practicing are getting a ton of work inside. We are just going to make sure that we are smart about all of these guys.”
Delpit and Harrison were able to take a few reps in team 11-on-11 work.
Defensive tackle Malik McDowell also returned to practice after being sidelined due to a rib injury.
Catching on – Receiver Davion Davis, an underdog to make the final 53, is quickly becoming a fan favorite.
Davis picked up where he left off Saturday night, where he high pointed a 27-yard touchdown against the Jaguars and made the play of the day by reaching out to haul in a deep ball from backup QB Case Keenum.
With five spots at receiver essentially spoken for – Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Rashard Higgins and KhaDarel Hodge – Davis is just trying to maximize the opportunity he has with the Browns and learn as much as he can in the process.
“It's crazy. I still can't believe I come in each and every day and I'm with guys like that, Odell and Jarvis and Switz and Wood and everybody,” Davis said Tuesday. “It's just crazy. They're regular people at the end of the day, but they're people I've looked up to, to get to this point. It's a dream come true and blessed with the opportunity to be in there with them and to learn from them.”
Nice grab – While Davis made the catch of the day between the white lines, safety John Johnson III showed off his hand while standing on the sidelines.
Keenum rolled to his right and eventually threw the ball away. Johnson calmly raised his right hand and snatched it out of thin air to a round of applause from the crowd.
Gloomy forecast – With the New York Giants coming to town later this week, the forecast is calling for a chance of rain for the remainder of the week.
Stefanski was asked about contingency plans should rain hit causing the coach to wince at the mention of the possibility.
“Do not say that. Do not try to speak it into existence there,” Stefanski said jokingly. “We have contingency plans, but we are hoping that does not happen.”
OBJ on ice – For those looking for Odell Beckham Jr. to make a splashy return to team drills against his former team, don’t hold your breath.
“We will kind of take things day by day,” Stefanski said.
Beckham, who has made an incredible recovery from a torn ACL suffered late last October after undergoing surgery in early November, has been held out of 1-on-1 work against DBs and any team work with the defense on the field.
“[We are] Ramping him up appropriately,” Stefanski said. “It is what we have been doing the whole time. He will be out there today and get some good work in.”
For now, the ramping up for Beckham includes work only “on air” or without a defender.
Guests of honor – The Browns hosted 120 VIP military guests comprised of active service members and veterans from all branches and Gold Star families for Tuesday’s practice.
After, quarterback Baker Mayfield walked over to express gratitude and thank them for their service.

Injury report – WR Ja’Marcus Bradley (neck), LB Tony Fields II (foot), DE Myles Garrett (hamstring), WR Alexander Hollins (hamstring), DT Malik McDowell (rib), S Sheldrick Redwine (ankle), CB Denzel Ward (soreness), CB M.J. Stewart (hamstring) did not practice due to injury.
DE Jadeveon Clowney (rest) also did not practice.
Puppy pound counter – Four more puppies were adopted Tuesday bringing the 2021 camp total to 47. Since the program’s launch in 2015, 619 puppies from the Northeast Ohio Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) have been adopted by Browns fans at training camp.
Up next – Practice Wednesday afternoon at 2:25. It is the final session open to the public.
