Browns LB Mack Wilson inactive, replaced by rookie Jacob Phillips against Giants

CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The Browns made a lineup change at linebacker for Sunday night's game against the New York Giants.

Mack Wilson is inactive and rookie Jacob Phillips will replace him in the starting lineup.


Wilson, selected in the fifth round of the 2019 draft, played just 17 snaps Monday night against the Ravens but did not register a statistic in the box score.

He had started seven of the 11 games this season and has recorded 32 tackles, a tackle for loss and a pair of passes defensed.

Phillips, who has started one game and totaled 12 tackles and a pass breakup, was picked in the third round of the 2020 draft out of LSU. He started the season opener but suffered a knee injury and was sidelined for two weeks. He was inactive for four straight weeks after aggravating the injury in Week 5.

Chris Hubbard will start at right guard for Wyatt teller, who is sidelined with an ankle injury and Sheldrick Redwine replaces the concussed Andrew Sendejo at free safety against the Giants.

Receiver Marvin Hall, safety Andrew Sendejo, cornerback Robert Jackson, right guard Wyatt Teller and defensive end Joe Jackson round out the inactives for Cleveland.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield will serve as the Browns' captain this week.
