Baker Mayfield's offseason roller coaster has been well-documented, and the ex-Browns quarterback hasn't been shy about going on-record about how he's viewed it. That was the case again on Tuesday, when Mayfield met with the media as a member of the Carolina Panthers for the first time. In his press conference, Mayfield was asked about all the offseason events that led to his eventual trade out of Cleveland, and his response was predictably candid.
"You know, I think that's why it was surprising for everybody," he said. "[It was] pretty unexpected. If I'm focused on the past, then I'm not doing my job in being a Carolina Panther now. Like I said, I'm grateful for my time there. Yeah, shocked I would say is pretty much the only way to describe it. But you roll with the punches and you've got to move forward. This is a test of adversity and how I'm going to handle it and move forward and be the best teammate possible with our new home. I'm looking forward to it."
