CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – A day after escaping Jacksonville with their eighth victory, the Browns got some good news regarding their best player.
Myles Garrett could return this week.
“Myles is on track to be cleared on Wednesday,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday.
Garrett was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Nov. 20 after testing positive for the virus. He was held out of practice on the 18th and 19th as a precaution after reporting symptoms.
The Browns were able to win both games against the Eagles and Jaguars without Garrett but the Defensive Player of the Year candidate will most certainly be needed the next two weeks if they’re to take down the mighty Titans and Ravens.
“We don’t want to win without him, but we’ll do it,” Stefanski said. “He’s a good player. We want him out there. I think the guys get a big boost from seeing No. 95 out there with them. That’s just based on how productive he’s been for us, all the game-changing plays he’s made for us throughout this season.”
The agreement between the NFL and NFLPA prevent Stefanski from speaking in specifics regarding Garrett’s illness or symptoms but the hope is that No. 95 will be able to return to form quickly.
“I know the kid and how hard he works but the truth of the matter is I haven’t put my eyes on him yet,” Stefanski said. “I’ll be able to answer that better throughout the week but just knowing the pro that Myles is, and how hard he works, I do feel confident there.”
Fullback Andy Janovich has already been cleared for Wednesday according to Stefanski, but he and the team will have to wait until later in the week concerning the availability of the other three players on the list.
The NFL closed all team facilities Monday and Tuesday following outbreaks of the virus around the country as well as within teams meaning the Browns and everyone else around the league will have to put their game plans together at home.
“Whatever the rules are, we’ll play by them,” Stefanski said.
“We did a lot of it last week. The building was closed in the morning. This is the year of the home office.”
