Browns DE Myles Garrett plead guilty twice to speeding in 2021 after being cited on consecutive days

CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Browns defensive end Myles Garrett was cited on consecutive days in September 2021 for excessive speeding court records show.

According to Medina Municipal Court records, Garrett was cited and plead guilty twice for speeding and paid a total of $554.00 in fines and court costs. Six points were added to his license as a result of the traffic violations according to court documents.

On September 24, 2021, Garrett was cited for excessive speed, and he later plead guilty. Garrett paid $267.00 in fines and court costs for the citation and was charged four points on his license according to court records.

The very next day Garrett was cited again for excessive speed. He plead guilty again after his speed was amended to 99 mph in a 70-mph zone and two points were charged to his license for that violation. He paid $287.000 in fines and court costs for that citation according to court records.

Rick Noland of the Medina Gazette first reported the citations issued to Garrett.

In 2018, Garrett plead guilty to having a faulty muffler after a speeding charge was amended. He was pulled over on June 6, 2018 by Berea police and paid $315.00 in fines and court costs according to Berea Municipal Court records.

Ohio Highway Patrol also cited Garrett for speeding on December 5, 2018. That charge was also amended to rear license plate light violation. Garrett paid $360.00 in fines and court costs according to Berea Municipal Court records.

On Monday afternoon Garrett suffered a sprained shoulder, biceps strain, minor lacerations and other bumps and bruises following a one-car accident in Sharon Township, located in Medina County while traveling southbound on State Road.

The accident occurred Monday afternoon around 3 p.m. when the Porsche he was driving went off the side of the road and overturned multiple times according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Impairment from drugs and alcohol is not suspected according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

NFL Network reported that Garrett was trying to avoid hitting an animal.

The cause of Monday’s accident remains under investigation.

Garrett did not suffer any broken bones and cleared concussion protocol, but his status for Sunday’s game at Atlanta is unknown.

Body camera footage released Tuesday showed Garrett sitting in the grass while being tended to by medical personnel. The video showed Garrett bleeding from his right wrist and hand. He was able to walk to the ambulance under his own power.

Garrett was released from the hospital Monday night after being taken there along with an unknown female passenger following the accident.

Garrett’s status for Sunday’s game in Atlanta has yet to be determined.
