CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Myles Garrett is done with the Cleveland Browns.
As Super Bowl week kicks off, Garrett has requested a trade from the franchise that drafted him No. 1 overall in 2017.
The demand comes less than a week after Browns executive vice president of football operations and general manager Andrew Berry told Zac Jackson of the Athletic and Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com at the Senior Bowl he had no interest in entertaining trade offers for the 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
Now Berry may have no other choice but to trade the six time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro defensive end.
Garrett released a letter Monday morning requesting the trade while taking a direct shot at Berry’s comments about Garrett having a one-way ticket from Cleveland to Canton.
“The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl,” Garrett wrote.

Garrett’s public request should come as little surprise to the Browns.
In late December Garrett expressed his frustration and unhappiness with the direction of the organization amid what ended up being a 3-14 season that was expected to see the team make the playoffs for the third time in five years.
A trade request doesn’t always end in a trade – see Deebo Samuel and the 49ers, but Garrett made clear in his letter that the ability to win a Super Bowl is a priority for him and he clearly doesn’t believe the Browns are capable, especially without a franchise quarterback.
Garrett, who led the NFL with 22 tackles for loss last season, became the youngest player to reach 100 sacks in his career before his 29th birthday and is the Browns all-time franchise sack leader with 102.5, the second-most in the NFL since 2017.
