CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Browns defensive end Myles Garrett will undergo an MRI on Monday after suffering a knee injury in Sunday’s 16-6 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski was unable to provide specifics after the game about the injury.

“I will know more in the morning,” Stefanski said.

Garrett apparently suffered the injury early in the game.

“I took a shot. I took a cut,” Garrett said. “It was one of the first plays, and from that first shot, it just kind of started just wearing on me.”

Garrett’s injury comes a week after the Browns lost receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to a torn ACL for the season.

“It always sucks to lose a guy like that,” quarterback Baker Mayfield, who completed 12 of 25 passes for 122 yards in gusty conditions, said. “We pride ourselves on the next man up mentality, but like we said about Odell, it is not a one-man job to fill his shoes. That is a guy that we love having here and love having on this team. The bye week is coming at a good time for us. Hopefully, it is nothing too serious and he can come back and continue to help us in a huge way like he has been.”

Garrett was examined in the medical tent during the second quarter before quickly returning, but when he wasn't on the field the Raiders were able to take advantage.

Las Vegas dominated time of possession by 16 minutes, ran 24 more plays and out-gained the Browns by 86 yards led by a 125-yard performance from Raiders running back Josh Jacobs in the victory.

“We let them get through the front four or front five a little bit too easy,” Garrett said. “He (Jacobs) was squeezing through and getting up to the backers and linebackers without having to change direction and having to slow down. Those are tough tackles to make. We just have to be better.”

Cornerback Denzel Ward, who forced a Carr fumble in the fourth quarter on an 18-yard run, but the Raiders recovered, made no excuses for their defensive struggles without No. 95.

“Guys just have to step up,” Ward said, “but we would love to have Myles out there on the field whenever we can. We have players who can play, come in a play and still get the job done. Players just have to be able to come in and step up.”

The knee injury is now the third injury Garrett is dealing with.

Garrett suffered an ankle injury leading up to their game in Cincinnati but played through it despite aggravating it. He also is apparently dealing with an injury with his right hand, which he revealed when asked after Sunday's game about just missing another strip sack of Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

“I can’t recall. My right hand is numb because I took a numbing shot for something else that has been going on this year. I thought I got enough of it to get it away from him and I had the tackle hanging on my back, but I thought I had a good shot on him, but he was able to slip through and he made a good play.”

Garrett, who entered the day leading the NFL with 9.0 sacks, sounded hopeful that with the bye week upon them he wouldn’t miss time. His intention is to play as long as the medical staff doesn’t hold him back.

“As long as I can walk on it or run on it, I am going to try to play on it,” Garrett said. “No matter how it feels the next two weeks, I will try to be out there unless they make a point of holding me out.”

With Garrett’s playing time limited in the game, his streak of consecutive games with a sack ended at six.

“It is what it is. It is part of the game,” Garrett said. “You get hampered with things like that, and you just try to play through to the best that I can or best that I could. It just started wearing on me. Started going to third downs and then they were driving the field and we were in passing downs. Have to what it takes to get out there the run downs.”
