CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – It wasn’t pretty, but it still counts.
The Browns are 6-3 for the first time since 2014 following Sunday’s 10-7 win over the Houston Texans that keep them in the middle of the AFC Wild Card race.
Victory Monday means game balls.
Here’s who gets them this week.
Nick Chubb – Chubb returned after missing four games with a sprained MCL with a vengeance by racking up 126 yards and a score on 19 carries. The gamblers and fantasy owners are still crying because Chubb stopped at the 1 in the final minute Sunday instead of scoring his second touchdown of the afternoon, but nothing exemplifies who Chubb is as a player and teammate better.
Kareem Hunt – With Chubb back, Hunt returned to form as well racking up a season-high 104 yards on 19 carries punishing Texans defenders all afternoon.
Baker Mayfield – Mayfield’s statistics won’t wow anyone – 12-20, 132 yards – but the most important thing Mayfield did in the wind and rain was protect the football. Zero fumbles, zero interceptions.
Myles Garrett – Garrett is on a mission and he remains a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks and offensive linemen. Garrett added half a sack to his total – now at 9.5 this season – and made a critical stop on fourth-and-goal at the two, stuffing Deshaun Watson for a loss of two that kept the Browns in front 3-0, one of two tackles for loss on the afternoon for him.
Ronnie Harrison Jr. – The safety had six tackles Sunday, and he continues to earn time on the field. He got all of it against the Texans, playing every defensive snap. Harrison also broke up a pass and registered a QB hit.
Sheldon Richardson – Richardson split sacks with Garrett and Larry Ogunjobi and registered a pair of QB hits while helping the defense hold the Texans to just 90 yards rushing with six tackles.
