CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Browns receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is still coping with the latest injury that has put his career on hold and ended his 2020 season.
Beckham, who finishes the year with 23 catches for 319 yards and three touchdowns while adding 72 yards and a TD on the ground, was placed on injured reserve this week after suffering a torn left ACL on the Browns’ opening drive of their 37-34 win over the Bengals in Cincinnati.
Friday afternoon Beckham thanked everyone for their support while also expressing his difficulty with coming to terms with the fact his season is over in a post he wrote on his Instagram story.
“I just wanna thank you all for Checkin on me…” Beckham wrote on the social media platform, “this is tough really fkn tough, I really don’t have many words right now definitely not the right ones at least. I couldn’t tell u why this happened, this one doesn’t make much sense, it’s not for me to question, but I believe God truly has a plan and is using me for it. Ton of emotions flowing.. just takin some ME time, some time to heal. Thank u all for the Luv… be back soon”
Beckham suffered the injury in the first quarter while trying to chase down Bengals cornerback Darius Phillips, who had just intercepted Baker Mayfield’s pass which was intended for Beckham. He appeared to get upended at the end of the play when he collided with Browns fullback Andy Janovich in midair, buckling his left knee.
Last year, his first with the Browns after they acquired him from the Giants in a March 2019 trade, Beckham played through a core muscle injury that he had surgery to repair in February.
Beckham made the Pro Bowl in his first three seasons, but injuries have derailed what was once projected to become a Hall of Fame career. The 2014 No. 12 overall pick by the Giants was limited to four games in 2017 with a broken ankle and 12 games in 2018 due to a bruised quadriceps.
