CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Comedian and Cleveland native Steve Harvey had plenty of jokes during his NFL Honors monologue Saturday night, but he did not have to lampoon his favorite hometown team, the Browns.

They used to be an annual punchline as the NFL’s laughingstock, but the Browns received nothing but love from Harvey after they finished the regular season 11-5 and ended the NFL’s longest playoff drought of 18 years.

“I love that the Patriots missed the playoffs for the first time in 13 years. Let the church say ‘Amen!’ Patriots fans don't know what to do with themselves because they ain’t never had free time in January. They've been calling up all the Browns fans for advice because our season normally ends somewhere in October,” Harvey said. “But not this year though.

“Do you know how good it feels to be a Browns fan and we make the playoffs, and the Patriots don't? Do you know how good that feels? Jarvis Landry, thank you, man. From the bottom of my heart, from a Cleveland boy all his life. Die hard. We in the playoffs!

“I don't give a damn if none of y'all clap. The Browns was in the playoffs. And if your ass ain't clappin' and you're on this screen, hell, your ass ain't in the playoffs either.”

Harvey also presented the NFL’s Coach of the Year award.

“I have a dog in this fight,” Harvey said as he introduced the video montage.

Then he revealed the winner.

“Kevin Stefanski, Cleveland Browns. Yeah. Whooo. Let’s go baby.”
