CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) - Tuesday night's preseason opener in Chicago could have gone...better for the Cleveland Cavaliers, who lost 131-95 to the Chicago Bulls.
The Cavs missed 13 of their first 14 shots of the contest before rallying to trail by six at the end of the first quarter. However, the team soon found themselves down 69-48 at halftime and were unable to cut into the Chicago lead for the rest of the game.
"We have to execute what we're trying to get done," Cavs head coach J.B. Bickerstaff told reporters after the game. "I just don't think we did a good job of that tonight."
Cavs guard Collin Sexton led the team with 14 points, while Chicago was led by Zach LaVine's 25 points.
Cleveland rookie Evan Mobley scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds in his preseason debut, while former Bull Lauri Markkanen scored 13 points off the bench in his Cavs debut.
The Cavaliers' next preseason matchup will be against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at State Farm Arena.
