New York, NY (92.3 The Fan) - The Cleveland Cavaliers' last preseason game of 2020...could have gone better.
Friday night's 119-83 defeat at the hands of the New York Knicks (3-1 in preseason play) especially shone a light on the number of Cavs players missing at Madison Square Garden. Veterans Kevin Love, Andre Drummond, Larry Nance Jr., and Matthew Dellavedova were a fraction of those inactive for the contest.
Those who were on the court for Cleveland couldn't do enough to overcome the team's slow start. Cedi Osman led the way with 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting (5-of-6 from the 3-point line), but Dean Wade (14 points off the bench) was the only other Cavalier to total double digits scoring.
Meanwhile, Immanuel Quickley got off to a hot start with 11 first quarter points on 4-of-5 from the field, totaling 22 points - along with 5 assists and 5 steals - for the game. Reggie Bullock also chipped in 17 points, while Kevin Knox (20 points) and R.J. Barrett (15 points) also boosted the Knickerbocker offense.
The Cavaliers ended the four-game preseason at an even .500, a 2-2 record with ups and downs against the Pacers and Knciks. Cleveland now must look towards the regular season, which starts this Wednesday, December 23 against the Charlotte Hornets at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Tip-off comes at 7:00pm.
