The Cleveland Cavaliers officially extended a qualifying offer to guard Collin Sexton and two-way contract qualifying offer R.J. Nembhard, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.
Sexton, 23, started in 11 games for the Cavaliers in 2021-22 before tearing his left meniscus and missing the final 71 games of the season. He averaged 16 points, 3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game in 2021-22.
Nembhard, 23, originally signed with the Cavs as an undrafted free agent out of TCU following the 2021 NBA Draft. Nembhard split time with the Cavs and Cleveland Charge, Cleveland’s developmental G-League team, throughout the 2021-22 season. He averaged 24.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game in 15 games with the Charge.
With both of these offers being tendered to these players, the Cavaliers will have the opportunity to match offers from other teams when the NBA Free Agency negotiation window opens at 6pm on June 30th.
