Shams Charania of The Athletic is reporting that Darius Garland is expected to miss several weeks with a fractured jaw.
The injury was suffered early in the third quarter of Thursday night's 116-107 loss to the Celtics. The guard attempted to drive past Kristaps Porzinigis, but was met by the seven-footer's hip.
Initially, Garland headed to the locker room, but he did return to finish out the rest of the game.
The 2022 All-Star is averaging 20.7 points per game and leading the team with 5.9 assists per game this season.
The Cavs have not had to deal with the former 5th overall pick missing much time this season, but when they have, the team has struggled. Cleveland is 2-3 without their starting point guard, including double digit losses to the Knicks and Pacers.
Cleveland hosts the Atlanta Hawks Saturday night and expect to see additional minutes from undrafted rookie Craig Porter.
