Former Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellavedova is heading back home to Australia. The unrestricted free agent has signed a 3-year contract with Melbourne United.
The 30-year old has played 8 seasons in the NBA and was a member of the Cavaliers 2016 NBA Championship squad. However, Delly was limited to just 13 games this past season with the Cavs because of a number of injuries, including a concussion.
Per the Melbourne United website, Dellavedova said: " I am really excited to sign with Melbourne United and come back to the NBL. It's a great team with a winning culture and some great teammates that I've loved playing with in the past for the Boomers.”
Part of the deal for Dellavedova is that Melbourne United would allow the guard to continue to consider opportunities in the NBA, should they come up during the free agency period.
Dellavedova is currently in Las Vegas as the Australian National Team is getting ready for the Summer Olympics in Tokyo. These games will make Dellavedova a 3-time Olympian.
