CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The Oklahoma City Thunder won the tiebreaking coin flip with the Cavs Tuesday meaning Cleveland will be in the fifth slot for the NBA Draft Lottery.
Both teams finished the regular season 22-50.
Following the coinflip, the worst Cleveland can pick in the NBA Draft is ninth, the Thunder eighth.
The Cavs have an 11.5% chance to win the top pick, 11.4% for the second and 11.2% to get the third pick in the draft. Should the lottery fall in order with the final standings, Cleveland would pick fifth in the NBA Draft.
Cleveland has a 45.1% chance to land a top-4 pick, but they have fallen out of the top four spots in each of the past three drafts.
The Rockets, Pistons and Magic have the best odds to win the No. 1 pick in the draft at 14%. The three teams have 13.2% odds to get the No. 2 selection and 12.7% odds for the third pick.
The Cavs won the NBA Lottery in 2003 (LeBron James), 2011 (via the LA Clippers Kyrie Irving), 2013 (Anthony Bennett) and 2014 (Andrew Wiggins).
The 2021 NBA Draft Lottery will take place June 22 and the Draft on July 29.
