(SportsRadio 610) - Framber Valdez became the first left-handed pitcher in Astros history to throw a no-hitter Tuesday night in a 2-0 victory against the Cleveland Guardians.

On the same day the Astros scooped Justin Verlander from the New York Mets ahead of the MLB trade deadline, it took Valdez just 93 pitches to record all 27 outs on Cleveland. Verlander, who won the American League Cy Young with the Astros last year, was the last Astros pitcher to toss a solo no-hitter in 2019.

It is the fewest number of pitches to a no-hitter since David Cone did it for the Yankees in 1999.
