(670 The Score) The Guardians have traded outfielder Harold Ramirez to the Cubs, they announced Monday afternoon.
Ramirez, 27, hit .268 with seven homers, 41 RBIs and a .703 OPS in 99 games in 2021. Cleveland designated Ramirez for assignment last Friday. He’s a career .271 hitter with a .714 OPS across three MLB seasons.
In another trade Monday, Cleveland traded right-hander J.C. Mejía to Milwaukee for either a player to be named or cash consideration. Mejía, 25, went 1-7 with an 8.25 ERA and 1.61 WHIP in 52 1/3 innings and 17 appearances in 2021.
The Guardians also signed 32-year-old catcher Sandy León to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training in 2022. He hit .183 with a .505 OPS in 83 games for the Miami Marlins in 2021. León is a quality defender, as the Marlins posted a 3.23 ERA with him behind the plate while he threw out 26.7% of would-be base-stealers.
