A week removed from the fight heard round Major League Baseball, between Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez, and White Sox shortstop, Tim Anderson, the Cleveland star saw his suspension reduced from three games to two. The decision comes after Ramirez appealed the initial punishment from the league earlier this week.

Ramirez will serve the ban immediately, making him ineligible for the Guardians two remaining road meetings with the Tampa Bay Rays this weekend. Saturday's matchup is slated for a 4:10 first pitch.

Beyond Cleveland's third baseman, the league handed down suspensions to a number of parties, including Anderson, who – beyond losing the fight and probably a bit of pride – walked away with a six game ban. The 30-year-old infielder appealed his punishment as well, but wound up serving the full suspension already.

The same can be said for Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase, skipper Terry Francona and third base coach Mike Sarbaugh, each of whom were slapped with one-game bans. White Sox skipper Pedro Grifol has also already served a one-game suspension as well.

Even with the incident behind the two clubs, last weekend's fireworks sets the stage for a must watch 2024 home opener for Cleveland, when the White Sox return to Progressive Field on April, 8.
