CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) - The Cleveland Guardians picked up pitchers Erik Sabrowski and Brett Daniels in Wednesday's MiLB Rule 5 draft.
The Guardians took Sabrowski from the San Diego Padres' Double-A affiliate San Antonio in Round 1, while Daniels was picked in Round 2 from the Houston Astros' AA affiliate Corpus Christi.
Sabrowski, a 24-year-old left-hander, was drafted by the Padres in 2018 and has gone 2-0 with a 1.86 earned run average in the minor leagues. The Canada native posted a .178 batting average against, as well as a 1.03 walks/hits per inning in 2021. He will miss part of the 2022 season as he recovers from Tommy John surgery.
Daniels, meanwhile, is a right-hander out of North Carolina who posted an average of 11.1 strikeouts-per-nine innings, along with a 1.59 WHIP in last year's campaign.
The Guardians did, however, lose a right-hander in Round 4 of the selection meeting, as Dakody Clemmer was nabbed by the Washington Nationals.
