Guardians to open season April 7 at Kansas City, home opener April 15 against Giants

CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The Cleveland Guardians will debut officially April 7 in Kansas City.

First pitch for opening day against the Royals is scheduled for 4:10 eastern according to the updated schedule on the team’s website.


Cleveland’s home opener remains April 15 with a 7:10 first pitch listed.

Thursday evening Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association agreed to and ratified a new collective bargaining agreement ending a 99-day lockout.

Players can report to spring training in Goodyear, Arizona Friday. All players are to report by Sunday.

The Cactus League opener will be March 18 against the Reds in Goodyear. They will play a total of 20 exhibition games, including split-squad contests.

Cleveland will play nine spring games as the home team at Goodyear Ballpark and nine away games. The Guardians will also travel to Phoenix for two exhibition games at Chase Field against the Arizona Diamondbacks on April 4 and 5.
