CLEVELAND - The individual player accolades continue to pile up for the Cleveland Guardians.

Today the Silver Slugger award finalists were named, and Cleveland has two representatives, Jose Ramirez and Andres Gimenez.

The finalists are decided by votes from MLB managers and coaches, with at least four players being declared finalists at each position in both the American and National League. The minimum game amount is 100 in a 162-game season.

The award takes into consideration, batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, and overall offensive value.

Jose Ramirez, who signed a contract extension before the 2022 season that will keep him in Cleveland until 2028, had a spectacular season.

He posted a career-high 126 RBI along with a .280/.355/.514, slash line. The 30-year-old third-baseman played 157 games and led Major League Baseball with 44 doubles.

Ramirez has been named a silver slugger three times in his career, most recently 2020.

The 24-year-old Andres Gimenez in his first full season shattered expectations. Gimenez had the highest wins above replacement of any Guardian, a 7.2 WAR.

The middle-infielder accumulated 146 hits in 146 games and earned an all-star selection. He also displayed power, blasting 17 home runs. The most longballs for Gimenez in a single season including the minor leagues.

At third base in the American League alongside Ramirez, is 2021’s winner Rafael Devers of the Boston Red Sox, Alex Bregman of the Houston Astros, and the Toronto Blue Jays’ Matt Chapman.

The other finalists at the second base position include Jose Altuve from Houston, 2021 silver slugger Marcus Semien of the Texas Rangers, and DJ LeMahieu of the New York Yankees.

The award winners will be announced on November 10th at 6 p.m. on MLB Network.
