CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) - Cleveland Guardians third baseman José Ramírez was named the American League Player of the week on Monday.
Ramírez, who finalized a seven-year contract extension with the Guardians on Thursday, hit .478 with two home runs and 11 RBIs over the past week. Ramírez also totaled a 1.432 OPS. The third baseman fell a double short of the cycle in a six-RBI performance against the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday.
Ramírez earns weekly honors for the fifth time in his career.
In the National League, Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki was named Player of the Week after hitting .412 with three home runs in his first full week in the major leagues.
Ramírez hit .478 with 11 runs batted in over the past week for Cleveland
