Guardians’ Jose Ramirez to compete in All-Star Home Run Derby

CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez accepted an invitation to participate in this year’s Home Run Derby during All-Star week in Los Angeles.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan first reported the news.


Ramirez, a perennial American League MVP candidate, has hit 17 home runs so far this season for the Guardians.

The four-time All-Star has hit 161 home runs since the 2016 season and has 180 for his career.

Pete Alonso, Juan Soto, Ronald Acuña Jr., Albert Pujols, Kyle Schwarber and Julio Rodríguez are also competing leaving one spot remaining for the annual competition.

Ramirez, named a 2022 All-Star, will be joined by second baseman Andres Gimenez and closer Emmanuel Clase in representing the Guardians at Dodger Stadium next week.
