The lockout will live on after no deal was reached on Tuesday, almost guaranteeing that the 2022 season won’t start on time.
On the players side, there was frustration that the owners portrayed a feeling of hope during Monday’s extended talks, accusing the owners of using such a tactic to put the blame on the players for Tuesday’s debacle. Already vocal about their frustration with the owners’ negotiating tactics, including the delay in an initial proposal and a self-imposed deadline to reach a deal, they were ready to lash out on social media once the league presented its so-called “best and final offer.”
