Report: According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Guardians and relief pitcher Emmanuel Clase have agreed to a long term contract extension. Reports say that the deal is worth $20 million in base salary over five years, locking Clase up until 2027.
After serving a one year suspension when he arrived to Cleveland via trade in 2020, Clase solidified himself as the team's closer last season. He racked up twenty four saves, and struck out seventy four batters over sixty nine innings pitched. After a promising start, Clase looks to give the Guardians security at the back of the bullpen for years to come.
